CalNaturale Wine

You have all heard jokes about box-o-wine and any wine bottle with a screw top but those rules and jokes don’t apply anymore.  Wine producers have become more eco-conscious and are making high-quality wines in a variety of packaging.  CalNaturale is doing just that with their use of Tetra-Pak flexible packaging in all sizes. Packaging that takes up less space and weight on transport trucks and store shelves.  A wine that is good for the earth and my soul?  I’m all for it!

CalNaturale wines are farmed in the Paso Robles Appellation and Mendocino and made with certified organically grown grapes.  Using no pesticides or synthetic fertilizers wine made this way and packaged in the Tetra-Pak use half the greenhouse gasses, waste and energy than a normal wine.  Available in two types- Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon they are priced affordably and found in many stores.

I tried both types of wine and found that the Chardonnay chilled quickly, a bit faster than in the bottle, and tastes of pears, crisp apples and a hint of citrus.  It is perfect for a summer day.  It’s won multiple awards from the wine industry and is a good buy for when you are having guests over for an outdoor party or you just want a nice, simple glass of wine for yourself.  The Cabernet Sauvignon was my favorite. It had a slight sweetness while being a full-bodied fruity wine with a hint of French oak.  I found it good for drinking by itself or with a good steak.  I loved how the Tetra-Pak’s fit in my fridge in almost any location.  Another plus is that if you are not sure if you will like a wine you can buy the small 500 ml size without having to commit to a whole liter bottle.

CalNaturale wines are available at your local grocery store, wine store and wherever wines are available in your area.
