Ritz Carlton Key Biscayne, Miami

I recently stayed at the Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne, Miami,Florida and found the property to be large, well-staffed and beautiful. That is about what you expect when staying at a luxury resort such as a Ritz Carlton. However, in the past some locations have disappointed so I never go into a place with loads of expectations.

Upon check-in you are escorted into a bright, light lobby with a friendly staff offering you bottled water, champagne or flavored water.  Check-in was quick despite it being a very busy time of day and we had no problem navigating this large hotel initially or during our entire stay.  I loved that this is a fairly quiet place to stay.  Despite the fact that we were not placed on the ocean side but rather overlooking the entrance of the hotel the sound of water from the large entry fountain was what we heard when we opened our sliding glass doors to our balcony.

Our room, a double queen bed, was spacious (420 ft, felt like more) and had room for two people to move around without an issue.  There is a large, plasma tv that swivels (a must in my book!) and the linens (Frette) are soft and comfortable.  A round table could serve as a work station but the chair that accompanies it is not high enough or comfortable enough to sit in for long periods.  Another chair with an ottoman might be a better bet.  One must keep in mind though that this is not the type of place you typically come to get work done but rather to play.  The bathroom in our room was fantastic!  It had a separate water closet with a phone and door.  Extra towels were hung there too.  While it was a single basin sink there was ample counter top space for two women with make-up and toiletry bags plus hair supplies.  Our room was always well-stocked with water, toiletries and other little odds and ends that made our stay more comfortable.  We had a small kitchenette in our room too. While we didn’t use it, it was nice to have nearby.  Overall, our room was clean, quiet and comfortable.  The muted color scheme was relaxing and the size of our room worked well.

The Key Biscayne, Miami property is situated on a beach with food and drink service and a lovely ocean view. It was gorgeous!  There are also several pools, including a quiet adult pool that I enjoyed the last day of my visit.  You can easily order drinks from two nearby bars as well as food and snacks.  An ice cream stand is also located near the family pool.  The staff was attentive at each pool and went to a lot of trouble to move three umbrellas for my friends and I when we didn’t want to be in the sun.

While we stayed at this Ritz Carlton we enjoyed eating at Cioppino, one of the hotel restaurants, for Sunday brunch and a late night dinner. It was fantastic! Service was extremely attentive and we were quite pleased with the brunch selections.  From traditional brunch fare to a lengthy dessert list, sushi bar, raw bar, cheese and special meats station and more there is something for every taste and age.  I loved every morsel of my brunch, especially my homemade omelette.

I was sad when it was time to pack up and go home.  This hotel is gorgeous and the staff from waiter to painter to bell hop was always willing to help, offer a pleasantry or kind word.  As they say while you stay here everything was, “My pleasure.”
