Mother’s Day Gift Guide

I’m not really about your gift guides over here at MPR, but I seeing as Mother’s Day is just around the corner it might be nice to give a gift or two.

I’m traditional in the idea that giving the gift of a candle is quite personal.  The scent you use to fill your surroundings is just as sacred as the perfume you wear.  I’m sort of in love with Tocca’s Candelina’s, especially the Giulietta scent which fills the room with soft green apple and pink tulips.  Very spring, indeed.  For $20 and a burning life of 30 hours it’s a sweet deal too. You can find them online and at BlueMercury.

While you are at it throw in a tube of Tocca’s new Crema de Mano Luxe cream.  It’s silky smooth and smells divine.  Available in scents Cleopatra, Stella, Giulietta, Bianca and Florence.  It’s $20 and available online at www.tocca.com.

I normally don’t buy into this type of thing but when I saw the book, “What I Love About You, Mom” ($14) by Kate and David Marshall (creators of the bestselling guided journals, The Book of Us, My Life Map) I wanted in.  It’s been a squeeze to find time to write things down and it will probably be a work in process but I know it is a gift my mother will appreciate.  It’s all about celebrating the bond you have with your mom by jotting down memories, including pictures and even checking off lists.  A beautiful way to express your gratitude and a nice keepsake.

Now this last one is something my mother already adores.  She is a sucker for Dr. Weil’s Orthaheel shoes.  When she first started wearing them out of necessity they were just mildly stylish. Jump forward a few years and I want to wear them too. Now I love the Anna in White sandals and don’t end up with aching feet at the end of the day.
